So, last week my husband, myself and my son Christian set out for the Carolina's. Christian is a junior in high school and it is the time to look at colleges. I NEVER thought Christian would get here. Riding in the car, driving with 2 males is a adventure in itself, I began to daydream about how fast time has gone.
Christian was born 8 weeks early and couldn't wait to get out into the world! My mother and I say it felt like he was never a child. He took on the role of protector to his older brother Casey and never looked back. I can honestly say it has been a pleasure to watch. Don't get me wrong, sometimes I want to rip Christian's tongue out ( yes, I have said that out loud), but all in all he is a good boy. I am STILL finding myself and here I am directing my child to his future. That to me is comical! Time- what a funny word. Christian thinks he might want to study film and business at the University of North Carolina in Wilmington. What an incredible campus and school! As a fellow creative person, I told him I want to go to school here. Christian just looked at me with a blank stare. He proceeded to raise his hand to our tour guide and said "Please tell me there is an expiration date on who can attend this school?" An expiration date - I gave birth to you. I remember hearing a mom say to their teenage son once, "I brought you into this world, I can take you out." I began to laugh! I have been searching for sooo long to fly and now my 17 year-old son was DEFINATELY going too.
I guess being in this business of auditions and rejections, you could get jaded. I realized at the moment that teaching my boys to fly was going to be the greatest accomplishment of my life! Who knows, I just might have to tie my kite to them. LOL
