I also have a 17 year-old son named Christian. He is a barrel of laughs also and what comes out of his mouth, I just laugh. One day, I was riding in the car with him and he was driving. That is a whole other story.
I had just got a call from one of Casey's doctors and I started to cry a little. Christian looked at me and said " Don't worry Mom. I'll always have Casey's back and if my wife doesn't like it, she is soooo out." At that moment, I realized what a great brother he is. Don't get me wrong, they fight like normal brothers, but when push comes to shove, they are there for each other. Christian's first sentence when people would stare at Casey was "Take a picture, lasts longer". My Mom always told me having a sick child or a special needs child either makes the family or breaks it. Thank God we are sooooooo not broken!
We are the family we are because of Casey and I hope both my boys know how special they are. Okay, no tissues - I'm grabbing the wine.
